Joseph Pluta, Attorney at Law

Joseph Pluta completed his undergraduate education at Brown University in 1971 and graduated from law school at the University of San Diego in 1978. He concentrates his practice in the areas of workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability, personal injury and employment law. Admitted to practice law in California since 1978, Mr. Pluta has since been admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of California. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey on November 21, 1948.


The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization Certified
The State Bar of California distinguishes attorneys who demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge, experience and proficiency with Workers’ Compensation law and procedure, as well as professionalism and ethics in legal practice, through board certification. As of October 15, 2011, Joseph Pluta is one of only 1002 attorneys in California to have achieved this prestigious distinction.

Appellate victories

Western Growers Insurance Company v. Workers' Compensation Appeals Board
A farm laborer who had a 25-year record of employment at Kirschenman Enterprises was medically diagnosed with depression and granted permanent disability benefits coverage by the trial court. The appellate court upheld all material provisions of the lower court’s order and Mr. Pluta’s client gained the benefits to which he was entitled.

Staff Profiles

Sandy is our legal support specialist. She is highly efficient and performs a broad range of tasks, including preparing legal documents, handling the correspondence, and making calls to physicians’ offices, insurance companies and opposing counsel to schedule appointments and obtain records.

Teresa is an intake professional with the firm for a little over a year. Her job responsibilities include handling the correspondence, sorting through documents we need to prepare and responding to client concerns.

Rosie is the specialist on staff on weekends. Her responsibilities include creating an organized archive of client records. She also stands ready to assist as needed with weekend appointments.
